Spring is here!
I just love to see the flowers blooming. We now have crocuses, hyacinths, and daffodils blooming around here. Even the trees are starting to flower. Yesterday we treated ourselves to some hot fudge sundaes at Jimmie Cone, our local ice cream hang-out. I used to work there as a teenager and one of the perks was free ice cream! Good thing I had a high metabolism back in those days. The search for a new dog continues and is challenging when you want to rescue one. It would be simpler to just buy one. Not much new on the knitting scene. Still working on a winter hat even though it is now spring.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Since I have a bit of the wee Irish in me I will say Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all! Finished another little girl's poncho and then decided to start on a basic knit hat. After looking for months for some thrift store double pointed needles with no success, I went ahead and bought some new today so I can finish the hat. Went to a coffeehouse tonight to hear some live Irish music. Guitar, mandolin, hand drum, viola, violins, tin whistles, border pipes it was great! Now if only I could find some people interested in letting me play along. Visited the pound today and it was so hard to see all the kitties up for adoption. Not many dogs to adopt but visited with a yellow lab. He was a bit preoccupied with his surrounding as this was his first day out of quarantine. What I really want is to get my dog back but of course that is not possible. Please God find another dog that will love us just like Dugan did.

Spring Forward
It was in the upper 60's yesterday when I walked out of the house with earmuffs and a scarf. I was shocked at the warmth. Set the clock forward today and now it was light until after 7 p.m. I highly recommend the movie Amazing Grace. It was so inspirational and encouraged me not to give up the fight against abortion. It took more than 20 years to abolish slavery in Great Britain after William Wilberforce first started the petition in parliament. Started another poncho this week for another birthday party next month. This time for a wee one turning three.

Another poncho finished!
Just in time for tomorrow's birthday party, I finished another poncho. Will try to remember to bring my camera with me to Chuck e Cheese and ear plugs. Also, am working on another baby blanket to be ahead of the game. My church has been having so many baby showers lately. Been thinking of teaching some of the younger girls how to knit since a few seem interested. I have never tried to teach children before and wonder if crochet would be easier for them. I didn't learn to knit until I was 15 but crocheted at a younger age.
Went to a craft show this weekend and there was hardly any needlework there. That really surprised me since it was supposed to be country crafts. I am on book 4 of the Zion Covenant series by Bodie Thoene. It is very interesting to read about World War II through fiction. What an incredible sad time for the world and the amount of apathy that existed.
While working on my bible study lesson this weekend, I really liked this passage from Psalm 146:17-19 "The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them."

A Poem About Winter
This is a poem I wrote last year but decided to put it on my blog:
Winter is coming
Grey sky fills up with clouds
spilling shadows across the land
Snow is coming, a chill lingers in the air
Brown trees silhouette against the barren ground
Their fingers reach upward toward the heavens
Their skin gnarled and notched yet
they stand like pillars in this forest
Squirrels race and chase gathering food
Deer stand still, ears erect, listening and waiting
A hawk circles above, gliding effortlessly in the wind
Winter is coming
Winter is coming
Grey sky fills up with clouds
spilling shadows across the land
Snow is coming, a chill lingers in the air
Brown trees silhouette against the barren ground
Their fingers reach upward toward the heavens
Their skin gnarled and notched yet
they stand like pillars in this forest
Squirrels race and chase gathering food
Deer stand still, ears erect, listening and waiting
A hawk circles above, gliding effortlessly in the wind
Winter is coming
