Me and the boys

They are officially 5 months old now and still growing. Lance is in the front and Logan beside me. We have found some puppy teeth on the floor the last few weeks as the adult teeth are coming in. The boys completed 2 classes of obedience training so far, learning sit, down, come, and stand. In the past week they escaped the yard via a hole in the fence. Poor Mom was really upset! I can't wait to take them to the beach and see them swim in the ocean later this month. Woo hoo!
Just finished a week of vacation bible school with my niece. I helped in the 5 year old class. She enjoyed it except for the robot in the skit. Oh well.

Reversible crochet

White with blue background
Flip it over and you get blue with a white background.

Over the weekend my friend's 92 year old grandmother taught me how to do reversible crochet using a shell stitch. Here is a picture of one of her samples. This has got to be one of the hardest stitch patterns I have encountered but the result is amazing. If I master it I will feel very triumphant!

Logan in a laundry basket

I guess Logan thought the laundry basket looked interesting and hopped in for a test.
I'm visiting a church now that I like so far http://www.riverchurchmd.com/. This weekend I'm going with a friend to Pittsburgh to visit her crocheting grandmother. I'm hoping to learn lots from her. She makes many things without using any patterns. It should be a pretty drive through the mountains which I love to see.
It's been so hot here the last two days (in the 90's) that I took my niece to the local pool along with her neighborhood friends. Today we are going to a free magic show at the library. I just love the library and their free programs and services. One of the librarians is an avid knitter and gave me a pattern she uses to make felted purses. She has made at least 30-40 as gifts for others.
We have vacation bible school next week at my parent's church and I'll be a helper in the 4-5 year-old classroom. Then, the next 2 weeks are filled with swimming lessons for my niece. I'm hoping she learns a lot.

Back from North Carolina

The beach was so refreshing at Wrightsville, near Wilmington, NC. I made the trip all by myself, 8 hours down and only 7 hours back. I was ecstatic to find a sand dollar on the beach in the surf and discover huge tidal pools near the inlet. I hope to go back next month with the family if my niece can come too.
Just got a new job today playing piano at a church every other month, starting in August. That will help supplement my income and pay the bills. Have to brush up on the liturgy and hymns now. It has been a long time since I have been in a traditional service.
Took my niece K to the carnival this week and she really enjoyed all the rides. I got my yearly funnel cake and she got a snow cone. Summer is here. We have vacation bible school at the end of the month and then swimming lessons in July. She likes to stay busy so I hope I can meet her demand for activities.
I've slowed down on my yarn projects and think I might scrap my thread crochet attempt. Just don't know if it will be a useful item at this point due to the coloring.
Logan (my puppy) and I start dog obedience training classes next week and my mother will be taking Lance (her puppy).
