Booga Bag and other things...

In my stash of bargain yarns last week I was able to get some skeins of 100% wool. My neighbor told me about the free Booga bag pattern so I started on yet another project. It is working up fast and even though I made some minor mistakes the felting process should hide that. I'm using Moda Dea Cartwheel color Bronzeberry on size 10 1/2 circular needles. The patchwork throw is coming along and I plan to work on it during my trip to N.C.

When I get back, I plan to fix my quilt that the cat decided to urinate on. I had to cut the patchwork pieces from the down comforter and rip the backing off. Fortunately I was able to buy another down comforter for only $25 at a clearance sale.

Patchwork Throw

Here are some pictures of the hexagons I've completed so far for the patchwork throw. I'm using sport weight yarn and a size E hook.

The heat is on!

Whew, am I glad that the 100 degree heat has past and now we are getting back into the 80's. Yesterday my car thermometer said 99 at around 12:45 p.m. Yucky! So my niece and I went to the air conditioned movie theatre to see Ratatouille, which was very cute and humorous. I recommend it even for adults.
I'm making progress with my crocheted hexagons and just joined the Granny-along blog. I attended a presentation by Julia Pretl last night at the Baltimore Bead Society and was inspired by her knit beaded bags. Also, check out her miniature beaded boxes. I'm thinking of making a knit beaded bag with a peacock design in the future. Over the weekend I attempted a cotton crochet rug but was having trouble with the oval design. Also, I picked up some odd yarn at the closing sale of a Joann's store for 70% off regular price. That is my kind of pricing, especially with my budget.
Logan is making progress in obedience training with sit, down, come, stay, and stand. Also, we are practicing heel and the Martingale collar really helps.

Patchwork Throw

Just started a new pattern from Erika Knight's book, Essential Crochet, called Patchwork Throw. I scrapped my thread crochet project but am liking this pattern a lot. I like the hexagon shapes and color. I'm using 3 ply yarn and a size D/3 hook. Recently, I've been helping my mother clean up the basement and found a stash of old Workbasket magazines from the 1970's. There is a pretty thread crochet pattern in one called Cathedral Windows which I would like to attempt for a tablecloth. Unfortunately, I was very sad that we had to throw away a lot of craft supplies, including some wool yarn due to those rascally mice who used it for their bedding. Drats! Now we put all that stuff in plastic tubs for safekeeping. The boys got weighed in at the vet office today and are now a whopping 50 pounds at only 5 months! I wonder what they'll weigh in at 12 months. I'm really learning a lot from the sermon series at church based on Derek Prince's book Blessings and Curses. It has been very eye opening for me so I've been reading the book as well.
