Fall is here!

I am so grateful for the cooler weather Fall brings, even though I love swimming at the beach. The boys, L&L, are appreciating the cooler temps too. Logan and I have already taken a walk at the nearby park and hopefully will be going again every weekend. He just loves going in the car now and hops right in. L&L are now 8 months old. Logan weighed in at 73 pounds 2 weeks ago! He did have a sudden allergic reaction and ear infection but thankfully is all better now. If I could only walk both dogs at the same time in an orderly fashion that would be an accomplishment. The dog whisperer, Cesar Milan, makes it look so easy on T.V.
My niece and I have been going to the parks on the cooler days. This month I took her to a petting farm/amusement park which she loved! Clark's Elioak Farm has restored many of the old attractions from the Enchanted Forest theme park in Ellicott City, MD. It brought back memories for me.
We are now getting into the school year schedule with her many activities, including dance, preschool, and church (cherub choir and bible study). Last week we celebrated Dad's 65th birthday and she was so excited to be having a party. I successfully made my grandmother's frosting and everyone liked the cake. Whee!
My needlework is going slow as I am still working on the patchwork throw. I plan to make a sweater for my niece for either her birthday or Christmas this year. At the ladies' group I attend we did rubber stamping this month and made some greeting cards. That was fun! This past month I've been playing on the worship team at the River church. Mostly I play the keyboard but did get to do some guitar and tin whistle. It is so much fun to play the tin whistle with a group.

Rest from labor

I'm grateful for Labor Day weekend and glad to have the chance to make it to the beach again. I made the 7 hour trip to Wilmington again last weekend and managed to move most of brother's stuff out of the parent's basement. The beach at Wrightsville was great and we found many tidal pools. My brother and I found a few whelk shells, some almost intact. I took them out for sushi to celebrate his 29th birthday. For his birthday he bought a bushel of blue crabs and some of his friends came over for the feast. Thankfully I only got less than 5 mosquito bites this time.

Now that September is here we are getting back to dance lessons, community bible study and preschool. Over this past weekend we took my niece to the community fair and she learned how to milk a cow. All the baby animals were so cute, especially the piglets. Too bad it was so hot. This month I have been playing piano in the praise band at the new church I've been attending and next month go back to playing liturgy and hymns at the Lutheran church. With cooler weather approaching I'm looking forward to taking the dogs for hikes in the local parks.
