Christmastime is here

Hopefully everyone had a pleasant Christmas this year. We celebrated by attending 11 p.m. worship Christmas Eve. The best part of Christmas for me was to see family and friends. Here is a picture of the working Christmas chimes that mom and I found. I finally finished my last Christmas gift today which was a crochet hat for my grandmother. Now to finish all the birthday gifts.

Birthday Celebration

My niece and I blowing out my birthday candles. Look I'm only 5!
Mom and Dad got me an i-pod shuffle this year and hopefully it will work in my car.
K and I hanging out with the boys. Can you differentiate them among the blobs of black fur?

It was a nice birthday party with the family even though I could have stopped having birthdays at 30. I remember when I was young wanting to be older, couldn't wait to turn 16, 18,... It is nice to have family around to celebrate with and I'm very thankful for all my friends who remembered me as well.

Christmas is coming is your goose getting fat?

Today my niece and I made orange clove pomanders and later some Christmas spritz cookies. I was tired after all the clean up was done but it was a creative afternoon with yummy results. I first made orange pomanders when I was about 4 or 5 in a Sunday school class while visiting my grandparents in Illinois. It is one of the few things I remember about that Christmas. So I thought K might like it too. She worked about 15 minutes and then decided she was too tired to continue. Same happened with putting sprinkles on the cookies. So I had to finish meanwhile K being sooo tired played with her stuffed animals. Thank goodness we took a nap so I could practice music tonight until 10 p.m. for the Christmas Eve service. Knitting and crocheting are still taking place but I think to myself every year that I should start my gift making earlier but never do. Oh well. Leave me a comment with your favorite Christmas carol and why. I love several but my favorites are O Holy Night; Still, Still Still; and In the Bleak Mid-Winter for their pretty tunes and words.

First snow of the season

My niece and I along with my mom and puppies galavanted around the yard on the first snow of the season. K especially enjoyed being pulled in the sled by us. I thought it would be a worthy endeavor to teach the dogs to do that after pulling 50 pounds uphill. About 5 inches fell throughout the day on Wednesday making it look just like a picture.

C is for cookie that's good enough for me

Our gracious host Cheryl distributing the cookies in bags.
Nicole, Patricia, and Rachel amongst the yummy cookies and Christmas decorations.
Mrs. B. and Nicole (sorry about the flash) waiting for their cookie bags.
We enjoyed a cozy night of Christmas memories with coffee, tea and of course Christmas cookies. Thanks to Cheryl for hosting our ladie's nights. My mom and I contributed the Scandinavian spritz cookies that my grandmother used to make. Email me if you would like a copy of the recipe.
