Before I left for my trip my mother commented on how plain my wool coat looked. When I was in Stockholm, a lovely yarn shop owner taught me how to make a scarf using the hurdle stitch. I found some colorful yarn made by DROPS and away I went. In fact, I made one in purple for my cousin who lives in Stockholm the week I was there.

My mother finally found a light for my advent star and here it is hanging in the front window. You can see my neighbor's Christmas lights in the distance.

Cool pictures! That is a really beautiful scarf, and I like the star, too. I still wear that colorful scarf you made for me several years ago, and I just love it! You look very pretty in this picture. Reminds me of the long hair I had until just recently! ;-)
I love both of them! The house we are staying in has one of those stars...I didn't know it was an advent star though! Love the scarf...I bought some thread here, and a c.s. hook, but the hook is too big, so I will have to wait til next week to start.
You could always double up the thread to make the yarn thicker for the hook.
i would LOVE for you to teach me that stitch! love it! i need to make 3 scarves this year!
The scarf is beautiful...is the hurdle stitch a crochet stitch? I love the picture of the star with the lights of your neighbor in the background.
The hurdle stitch is knitting. You knit 2 rows and then the following 2 rows is K1 P1. Keep repeating this pattern.
You are such a talented knitter! I love your scarf - now when I see it again I think I need to knit me a colorful scarf too :)
Merry American Christmas on the 25th and Merry Swedish Christmas on the 24th! Big hugs from Sweden!
