Afternoon Tea

Drinking some delicious strawberry white tea. We ordered a pot of strawberry white and raspberry tea. Both were wonderful. This year in celebration of her birthday, I took my mother to The Old Farm House in Thomasville, Pennsylvania. The Zarfoss House was built in 1863. We had high tea which included fruit, tea breads/scones with devonshire cream, salad, soup and tea sandwiches. For dessert we had chocolate cake.
Waiting for our next course. My grandmother and my mother's friend. My grandmother remarked on our drive home that she had a fun day.
Logan loves to hop in the car and go, go, go! He enjoys our excursions to local parks.

Last night I went with a friend to a concert of English music. We enjoyed listening to the songs and various instruments in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia sponsored by Shepherdstown Music and Dance. I especially liked the music by a trio Peter Barnes, Mary Lea and Paul Oorts.

My work on the dollhouse has slowed as has been my other projects. March was a bit of slump month for me. Mom did buy two cute little porcelain dolls yesterday at the tea room for the doll house at $1.50 each. I'm still working on knitting an elephant hopefully to be completed by the baby shower next month.

I'm really enjoying learning more about John Adams through the HBO miniseries this month on Sunday nights. Those with HBO should check it out.

What I've been up to lately

Planning and praying for next fall. As September approaches I feel sad because my life as a nanny will end as my niece goes to kindegarten but this dream of going abroad as a missionary comes closer. Ever since the mid-1990's I've had an interest in the former Soviet Union which is now many different independent countries. For 7 years I wrote a pen pal who lived in Kazakhstan but lost touch after she moved to Russia. I took a semester of Russian and tried to write simple paragraphs in Russian (no easy task). I would cry when watching programs about orphans living there and had hope that one day I might be able to help in some way. So here it is 2008 and maybe just maybe this will be the year that I'll go.

Something good to watch

I was just watching a documentary about one of my friends on YouTube and thought others might like to see it too. It is very well done in my opinion. Check it out here by John Paul Kinhart at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV6BYCBF3Oo. He is an artist and focuses on comic book art. You can read his comic book at www.weaponpress.com.
