It's a sad day....
when a jug of milk and loaf of bread cost $8. That's what my grandmother paid today and I had a hard time believing it. I opted for the loaf of potato bread which was on sale for $1.69 or maybe it was $1.59 instead of the non-sale 12 grain bread which was $3.99. A box of clementines went up to $5.99 when a week prior it was $4.99. What changed in a week to up the price by $1 beats me. I was happy to see gas prices going down. In my hometown it was $1.56/gallon. I hope they don't put taxes on gasoline to help repair the highways like they are talking of doing. On another note, I just had a hankering for warm chocolate chip cookies to go with a cold glass of milk, while I watched You Got Mail for the 10th time? It was a good thing.

Wow...what costs! Back in Texas...clementines in a box were $5.99 at Walmart, so that price is not so bad---that was back this past year, so they might be up to 6.99 for Tx! That is one great thing here---I can still get good bread for a dollar or less than 29 rubles!
Yep, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Can you believe that we normally have to pay $2 PER APPLE?! Yesterday there was a sale, so I bought 10 apples for $.77 each. This sure isn't Texas anymore! :-)
I wanted to say, too, if it makes you feel any better: one gallon of milk here is $4, and the good wheat bread (without high fructose corn syrup) costs us $5. I guess I should be grateful that we have a grocery store with fresh food in town at all, as I've heard stories from people who have lived in the Alaskan bush about how they can never get any fresh fruits or vegetables, etc. I guess it's all a matter of perspective! :-)
Love you!
Just one more thing, and then I'm done. Gas here is actually below $3! We were excited that the other day it was "only" $2.87.
